"Seven Mile" by Will Sessions and Amp Fiddler ft. Dames Brown is #DatGetRightMusic
because of the laidback, groovy '70s atmosphere, it evokes. You get the feeling you've stepped out of a long black Sedan de Ville, fresh dressed in your fly mink coat, with two bad foxes for a night on the town. The track feels like the score for a blaxploitation film which, done today, has a refreshing appeal to it. For a few minutes, we're taken to a different time and place. Free to imagine a scenario that fits the music. This is what creative music does. It gets you involved in the story in a way that's personal. My version of the tale of the song is probably different from yours but probably not be much.
Verily, I say unto you #DatGetRIghtMusic is all about groove. This track has groove galore. On the groove meter, I give it a 7/10, which is stellar for these times. I love the fact they don't break the groove so many times you can hardly get into it. One of my pet peeves about much of the current RnB/Soul/Funk music. Lock the rhythm in and hold it there, I say.
Will Session, Amp Fiddler, and Dames Brown make a solid soul/funk ensemble. The musicianship and background vocals along with Fiddler's lead make you want more of what they have in store. Check them all out below, individually and collectively.
